Grouping takeoff drawings, and giving part of a sheet its own scale.
A layer groups materials drawings and, where it needs to, carries its own scale. Layers are phases
and stages of the work - existing and proposed, phase 1 and phase 2 - not a way of splitting up
one measurement.
What a layer holds
Name: yours to set.
Scale: optional. Where set, it replaces the page's scale for everything measured on the layer. See Layer scales.
Visible: hides or shows the layer's drawings on the sheet.
Selected: which layer new drawings land on.
Name and scale are saved with the project. Visibility and selection are for the session you are in
and are not saved, so hiding a layer to get it out of the way never changes the file.
Notes
Hiding a layer hides its drawings but does not exclude them from quantities. A hidden layer still counts.
Pitch is per drawing, not per layer, because one layer can hold facets at different pitches. See Pitch.
