Storage locations

Setting up the local and network folders that projects are kept in.

Projects are kept in a managed location rather than wherever you happen to browse to. Set one up before the first job; after that, creating and saving projects only ever asks which location, not which folder.

You pick a location from the same set of cards everywhere it matters: creating a project, saving a copy, and promoting a PDF.

The locations

Location	What it is
Local	A folder on this computer. Only reachable from this machine.
Network	A shared network drive, reachable by every computer on your network.
Cloud	Not available in this build. The card is shown but stays disabled.

Local suits one estimator. Network is what a team needs, so that everyone opens the same projects rather than passing files around.

Setting one up

Click the location's card to open Configure Location.

Folder Path (Local) or Network Path - Browse… to pick it. For a network location, map the share as a drive letter in Windows, for example Z:\, or type a UNC path like \\server\share.
Archive Path (optional) - where archived projects are moved. Leave it blank and an Archived folder inside the path above is used.

The folder has to exist already. The dialog refuses a path that is not there rather than creating it, so make the folder first and then point at it.

A network path is stored in its UNC form even when you pick a mapped letter, because a mapped drive may not be reconnected yet when the app starts and a bare Z:\ would fail to resolve.

Maintaining a location

Open in Explorer - jump to the folder.
Rebuild Index - re-scans the folder and rebuilds the list of projects in it. Use it when projects were added or removed outside the app, or when the browser is not showing what you know is there.
Disable this location - stops it being offered and its projects no longer appear in the browser. It does not delete anything; re-enable it and they come back.
