Leader

An arrow that turns as many times as it needs to, with nothing on the end of it.

A Leader points at something and gets out of the way. It is a run of straight segments with a solid arrowhead on the first point, and no label of its own, for when the text it belongs to is already on the page: an existing note, a schedule, a Text Box placed separately.

Draw it: click on the thing being pointed at first, then click each turn on the way out, then press Enter.

Keys while placing

• Enter: finish the leader.
• Backspace: remove the last point.
• Escape: also finishes, with the points placed so far. It does not discard the leader.

Settings

• Line Weight: 1 to 10, default 1.
• Colour: the line and the head. Default red.
• Opacity: available.
• Start ending / End ending: the same nine styles as the other line tools, so the head can be moved to the far end or taken off entirely.

Notes

• The arrowhead is on the point you clicked first, not the one you finished at. Start at the target and work outwards, the same way round as the Callout.
• The head is a solid arrow, the drafting-standard leader head, and it matches the one a Callout draws so the two sit together on a sheet.
• The toolbar icon is teal to group it with the other note tools. That is the icon only, and it has no bearing on the colour it draws with.
