Brush

A wide freehand stroke whose edge fades out instead of ending hard.

The Brush draws the same freehand stroke as the Pen, but soft: a solid core with two wider, fainter passes behind it, so the edge fades out rather than stopping at a hard line. It marks emphasis that should not read as a correction.

Draw it: press, drag, release. The cursor is a circle sized to the core stroke.

Settings

• Size: 1 to 25, default 8. Sets the solid core only.
• Colour: the stroke. Default red.
• Opacity: available. Scales core and halo together, so lowering it thins the mark evenly rather than only softening its edge.

Notes

• The halo is drawn at one and a half and two times the core width, so a brush covers noticeably more than its Size number and more than the cursor shows.
• Ends are rounded, like the Pen's.
